I’ve Been Riding the Storms Out

The country is bracing for the arrival of hurricane Irene. Our state, North Carolina, will be the first state to be directly hit, but the good thing is, we live so far away from the coast which I am so thankful about. I am not sure what we will get, but we are still praying not only for ourselves, but for all the people who will be greatly affected.

This will be the first hurricane that I will encounter since I got here in November last year. I already had my share of thunderstorms, a rare earthquake the other day and tornado watches which really scared the hell out of me. I actually checked for a tornado shelter online during the tornado season because I was so worried. Thankfully, all we got was tornado watches and no tornado warnings. I felt sorry for those who were devastated. The damage the tornadoes did was really heart-breaking.

I hope hurricane Irene will not do the same damage. We can just hope and pray.

Keep Your Dreams Alive…

That is just a part of the quote that I found online that goes…

“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.” ~ Gail Devers

So true, isn’t it?

My husband called me from work today – the same time he calls me everyday – when ‘Dreams’ became our topic. We both have dreams, like all normal people do, I guess. Because if you don’t dream, or if you don’t have dreams, that is the end of your existence. You are going nowhere. And dreams are for free so why not make the most out of it. And just like what the quote says, it is possible for those who believe. And I am a true believer.

I DO BELIEVE THAT MY DREAMS WILL COME TRUE SOMEDAY. (“,)

A Tow Was the Only Way to Make it Go

I was busy doing my household chores yesterday when I heard the neighbor’s dog barking. I looked outside through the window and saw this truck towing our neighbor’s van with the use of one of those curt trailer hitches.

I’ve heard from my husband that our neighbor has been having problems with his vehicle, and there it was; I saw the proof. The engine probably died on him along the way. Poor him! Hope he will fix it as soon as he can.

My Day’s Coming!

We were having our dinner yesterday when my upcoming birthday became the topic. The husband said that he’s got plans, but he will never divulge anything until the right time. I know he has surprises in store for me, again; knowing him, I already know that. And that is why he was being secretive because he wants it to be a total surprise.

But I did give him ideas on what I want for my birthday. He was beaming when I enumerated all the electronics on my list which includes a DSLR camera, an 8gb ipod nano, a kindle and an iPad. Wheee!!! He doesn’t have to buy all of them, though. He just has to choose one. But if he’ll give it all to me, much more the better. LOL.

Of All Things…

Guess what the husband forgot to bring today? His dentures! LOL.

Yeah, seriously! I saw it when I went out of the bathroom today. It usually sits on top of the bathroom counter near his sink. He always had it removed at night before going to bed and soak in water with cleaning tablets to protect it.

I was like, “Oh my gosh!” That was the first time that it ever happened and we were both laughing when he called me around mid-morning. He said he was so much in a hurry to go to work that he totally forgot about it. He forgot to take his vitamins too which is in his medicine cabinet on top of the counter. That’s why he forgot about his best buddy – his dentures. Because if he went there to get his vitamins, he could have seen his dentures swimming in their little pool.

I kidded him to keep on smiling despite the lack of his best buddies and he laughed. He said he doesn’t mind at all if they will see him smiling without his beloved teeth. LOL.

He Always Has Time For Me

A week day is not a day without a phone call from my hubby. He always make it sure that he calls me between 9:00 to 10:00 o’clock in the morning when he is at work . It has never gone beyond that or earlier than that except today. He called me at two minutes past 10 and that is because he had a meeting with his boss.

They were actually just having a break when he called me and he was still holding the receipt printer that his boss handed to him for him to check out. He didn’t explain everything to me about it since his break was almost over in and his boss wanted him to get right on with his work. Maybe later when he gets home.

Isn’t he super sweet? He is and I know he will always be.

If We Had the Money, We’d Do it Too

I was watching my favorite makeover show again today and I really admire the transformations they make. There was this house whose backyard was full of junk, but with the magic hands of the decorators, it was turned into a very beautiful backyard filled with plants, a playground for the kids, a dining area with an outdoor fire pit and more. It was really amazing. But guess how much they spent for the makeover? A whooping $80,000! Wow! But it was worth it because everything was remarkably and beautifully done. How I wish we had a backyard like that too.

A Date to Remember

After being married for six months, it was only last Friday that me and my husband had a date. Only the two of us. No chaperon. LOL. It was our 6th month of being married and we went to have dinner at a seafood restaurant, then we watched the movie, ‘Friends With Benefits’ which was so funny.

It was really a great night. We both had a blast celebrating our first date ever after our wedding. The last time we had a date was actually on the night of our wedding. Good thing, the neighbor was kind enough to have my son for a sleepover. If not for it, we would not have time for the two of us which we both believe is necessary for couples.

I can’t wait for our next date! (“,)

He’s the Money Man of the Family

The husband has been looking into the different rates of cd type annuities so we can invest. He is weighing and trying to figure out which one would be the best for us.

I don’t know exactly the pros and cons of such financial dealings so I am leaving it all up to him. He knows better than I do so I will let him decide on this matter. Whatever he thinks is best, he will have my agreement.

The Hot Weather Ruffled My Feathers

The city celebrated the Bele Chere Festival last weekend. It started on Friday at noon and ended at 6 o’clock last night. We went to check what they offer on Saturday morning and there were fabulous finds everywhere. It was my first time to have seen the festival because I’ve just been here for seven months.

The entire downtown was very crowded. There were a lot of kiosks set up on the street and stores selling many different things. We saw a lot of feather flags everywhere that displayed different advertisements and products. It was so hot, though, that we didn’t really spent much there.

There were live concerts in the evening, but we were all too tired to watch so we just went home and watched baseball instead.
