All That Glitters Isn’t Gold
I was cleaning my son’s book shelves and I was delighted when I held his piggy bank and there were coins in it. I was curious to know how much he had saved, but I was surprised to see gold coins, only to discover they were actually tokens which were the husband’s. He worked at a miniature golf course and game room and those tokens were for the game machines that they had. He kept them all these years as remembrance and my son was delighted when my husband handed them to him one day.
I didn’t know he put them in his piggy bank. Well, I was happy that he kept the tokens. But I would be happier if those were really coins in there. Maybe I should give him tips on how to save, huh?
The Blinds are Now Up!
When we arrived here last year, the husband was so surprised to see the house fully renovated. His stepson finished what they’ve started when he left to fetch Yogi and I. The whole house was really clean and smelling good the first time we stepped inside. We are really grateful for what they did.
But one thing that surprised the husband was seeing that they had removed the window blinds in Yogi’s bedroom and changed it with panels. I’ve never seen those blinds so I thought that it probably looked worn out that was why they removed it. The husband preferred the blinds because it will make the room warmer compared to those curtains.
So, last week, since the cold days are here, he decided to put them up. And I was so surprised to see how still nice they are. He bought it two years ago, but they still look so new. And when he was done putting them up and put valances on top of it, I was so delighted with what I saw. They really look way way much better than the curtains.
Good job, Hubby! Yogi’s loving his room the more now too.
Pickin’ & Grinnin’
I think my son’s going to follow in my hubby’s footsteps. My husband loves to play the guitar and whenever he plays it, my 8-year-old son attentively listens and when my husband is done, he will play with the guitar too pretending he knows what he’s doing.
I told the husband that maybe he could introduce him to easy songs for guitar so his enthusiasm about learning how to play the guitar can be developed. That would be really sweet. Both my boys will be playing guitar songs to me.
A Steal of a Deal
I’ve been hearing about Cyber Monday deals even before I got here in the land of Uncle Sam, but I never got to enjoy it last year. Perhaps this year because that is certainly one of the best times to shop for great deals.
And knowing that we will shop for new Christmas decors this year including a new Christmas tree, I know for certain, it will be the best time for us to shop. I already told the husband about it and as always, he’s in for the idea. He knows how wise I am when it comes to shopping so, no second thoughts for him.
Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I certainly can’t wait for Cyber Monday to do our Christmas décor shopping! Wheee!!!
Final Yard Cleaning?
The husband hopes so, but I guess not because as I am sitting here in front of the computer, I can see through the window all the leaves that are falling from the trees. The wind is kind of blowing and the trees in our yard are not totally bald yet. So, that being said, the blowing of leaves yesterday will not be the last for the husband. The husband does all the yard work and he prefers it to be that way because he knows for certain it will not be easy for me. He decided that it’s his ‘job’ and mine would be inside the house.
I would love to help him because looking at him riding the mower seemed fun. But it would be dangerous for me because our yard is kind of hilly. The husband knows best since he’s been living here all his life and has been mowing this yard for years.
I am a good girl and besides, I trust him more than anybody else so, I agreed!
No Curls in My World
I am not into make-up and stuff. Loose powder plus lipstick and lip gloss are my beauty regimen whenever I go out whether to parties or simply to shop. But not my sister. That is one thing that we don’t have in common because she can’t leave the house without doing her beauty rituals. But I can’t blame her. She works in a bank and they’ve been trained to put on make-up to be presentable.
One thing that amuses me whenever she beautifies herself is when she curls her eyelashes. I tried it once, but my eyes watered. I haven’t messed with it since then. My eyelashes are also short so it was hard to curl them. Maybe I should grow them first using eyelash growth products before curling, huh? I must admit, curled eyelashes really adds beauty. Maybe I just need to practice. I know I’ll get used to it in time. Not to forget, practice makes perfect.
My Poor Mouthy
If there is one thing that has been bothering me lately, it is my gums. They bleed from time to time, especially when I eat or while brushing my teeth. I know it indicates unhealthy gums and I need to see a dentist for it, but we still don’t have the insurance so it has to take a back seat. Well, it’s not a matter of life and death anyway, so it can wait.
But having this dilemma makes me wish I knew what was the solution to it. I wish I have one of those Dental Hygienist Jobs so I’d know the cure and do it myself. But I don’t so I can’t do anything but deal with it. No biggy!
Jonah Hex
I bought our Halloween costumes early last month. After we all put it up, I got rid of the bags with its photos and names on it. I didn’t think there will be any use of the bags until a week after that when we forgot the name of the husband’s costume. I did remember mine and my son’s, but I totally forgot about his. The husband forgot it too because he didn’t make a big fuss out of it and I was the one who ordered it so, he was thinking that I know what I got for him. Teehee.
Until yesterday, Halloween. His daughter’s boyfriend immediately recognized what costume he got and it was ‘Jonah Hex’. I remembered it then. But really, I didn’t know who Jonah Hex is. I googled it today and found out that his character was made into a movie. I am not sure if the movie has been shown, but his daughter’s boyfriend did tell us about who he is and stuff.
Anyway, the husband did scare some kids so, that was a great choice for a costume. Yeah!
My Click is Sick
I’ve been using my digital camera for two years now. It was a gift that my husband gave me when he was still my fiancé, on my 34th Birthday. I’ve never had problems with it ever since, but lately I’ve noticed that the battery gets low after just a few snap shots. I have this feeling that it needs to have a new battery soon.
I told the husband about it a few days ago and I was delighted when he told me that he’s got spare batteries with his digital camera. But unfortunately, what he has are canon batteries since his camera is a Canon brand, but not mine. He forgot that he got me a different brand. Well, I can always get one online or at an electronics store. Hopefully, it will not cost me an arm and a leg.
The Kitchen Has a Fresher Look
Our new dishwasher and new oven were finally delivered and the hubby got them installed all by himself. Yeah! The husband installed them himself because the fee for the installation was almost half the price of the appliances themselves! Besides, the husband is a fixer-upper so it was a piece of cake for him. It didn’t even take him an hour to finish the job. Good job, Honey!
Now, our next project would be a new refrigerator and perhaps a new TV with one of those antennas for digital tv. But just like the two new appliances, we are going to save for it because we are going to pay in cash. We can use the credit card if we want, but we chose not too. There’s definitely no need to rush. The fridge that we have now is still useful and the upgrading can wait. (“,)
